Dissecting the Complexities of EU Climate Policy in an Insightful On-Campus Event!

On December 4, over 110 attendees gathered on our beautiful campus for an interactive panel discussion titled “Navigating Climate Policy.” The event delved into the intricate intersection of policy, diplomacy, and sustainability.

The event began with a warm welcome from Christina Chantzou, ACG Senior Manager for Advancement-Alumni, followed by opening remarks from Claudia Carydis, ACG Vice President for Public Affairs, who highlighted the College’s sustainability commitment and achievements and set the stage for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion.

Distinguished speakers from diverse fields shared their insights on the complexities of European climate policy. The discussion drew inspiration from EU Climate Diplomacy towards the IMO and ICAO, a recent publication by George Dikaios, Pierce ’10 alumnus and Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

Moderating this timely conversation, George Dikaios was joined by Stella Apostolakis, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at Deree and Executive Director of the ACG Center of Excellence in Sustainability, Spyros Blavoukos, Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), Emmanuealla Doussis, Professor at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Angeliki Kosmopoulou, Pierce ‘84 alumna and founder of Storymentor, and Theodoros Syriopoulos, Professor at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

This enlightening discussion highlighted the power of collaboration and the importance of bringing together bright minds to address global challenges.

The event was co-organized by the Office of Advancement – Alumni and the Office of Sustainability – Public Affairs, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy of NKUA and the Hellenic Foundation for European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP).

A heartfelt thank you to the speakers, attendees, and supporters, 3E Greece and Zacharias Wine, who made this event possible.
