Deree joins forces with the Latsis Foundation to offer deserving undergraduate students study abroad opportunities at recognized educational institutions in Europe and around the world!
Deree – The American College of Greece is proud to announce its new collaboration with the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation. The “Latsis Foundation Study Abroad Scholarships” Program will be available from the current academic year to academic year 2022-2023. It will provide deserving undergraduate Parallel Studies students (Deree students, who study in parallel at Greek Public Universities) and full-time undergraduate Deree students, the opportunity to follow study abroad Programs at recognized educational institutions in Europe and around the world during the summer or Fall/Spring semester.
The Outbound Study Abroad Program (OSAP) aims at enriching the Deree academic experience by enabling students to access prestigious, credit-bearing, education abroad opportunities that develop students’ intercultural competence and global citizenship. The Program offers students access to an ever-growing global network of exchange partner institutions where Deree Parallel and full-time students can study for a semester or session and transfer credits earned abroad toward their degree.
The Scholarships Program will give the opportunity to many worthy young people who currently face financial difficulties to acquire global skills and open up personal and professional opportunities that would have been unreachable for them otherwise. At a period that the world is challenged by a global pandemic, projects that promote international collaboration provide a light of hope for the coming period.
In announcing the Scholarships Program, President David G. Horner stated: “In these unprecedented times, it is extremely encouraging to see organizations like the John S. Latsis Foundation endorsing our mission of adding distinctive and sustainable value to our students, Greece and the global community. We are grateful for the Foundation that supports deserving young people to become global citizens and make a positive difference in society.”
Eva Lianou, General Manager at the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation commented that: “The ‘Latsis Foundation Study Abroad Scholarships’ Program is a product of the Foundation’s commitment to enhance access to education at all levels. With an increasing number of students applying for study abroad programs, the study abroad experience has come to be an integral part of undergraduate and postgraduate education in Greece. Working in tandem with our Foundation, The American College of Greece will provide students with the opportunity to further develop their skills, expand their knowledge and most importantly assist them in benefitting from the multicultural nature of leading institutions across the globe. I am delighted that we will contribute to the academic enrichment and personal growth of students, who will eventually and remarkably influence their respective communities and societies. The partnership of the Foundation with The American College of Greece will unequivocally augment the potential of Greece’s younger generation by stimulating the youth to broaden their perspectives and combine high achievement with critical thinking and responsible action.”
