The American College of Greece (ACG) continues to solidify its position as a leader in sustainability performance, achieving outstanding results in the latest THE (Times Higher Education) Impact Ranking. ACG has been rated as the most sustainable private educational institution and 4th among 18 Greek institutions in the public and private sectors, with an overall score of 67 out of 100.
The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking assessed and ranked 2,031 universities from 121 countries/regions for their contributions to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among these global institutions, ACG placed in the top 150 (top 7%) for SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, the top 250 (top 12%) for SDG 13: Climate Action, and the top 350 (top 17%) for SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Notably, ACG achieved top scores in Greece for these three SDGs.
The application process has been driven and facilitated by the collaborative efforts of the Center of Excellence in Sustainability and the Office of Sustainability – Public Affairs. The latter’s meticulous reporting process and commitment were crucial to these successful outcomes. This effort was further bolstered by the substantial support from the Theodore Papalexopoulos Chair in Sustainability at ALBA.
The results represent ACG’s commitment to improving sustainability across all levels, following the SDG 4.7 categories: Academia, Research, Governance, Operations, and Community Engagement. ACG remains committed to advancing its sustainability rankings, aiming to set an example of sustainable practices.
The Center of Excellence in Sustainability, the Office of Sustainability – Public Affairs, and the Theodore Papalexopoulos Chair in Sustainability at ALBA extend heartfelt thanks to the entire ACG community— faculty, staff, and students—for their significant contributions through educational pathways, research outputs, initiatives, operations, collaborations, and more, which have led to these great achievements. ACG will be applying for THE Impact Rankings in 2024 and subsequent years, aiming to achieve increasingly higher ratings.
