The National Centre for Scientific Research (NCSR) “Demokritos” will join forces with The American College of Greece (ACG) to expand and enhance both institutions’ efforts in the area of innovation and economic development.
Beginning in early 2022, NCSR “Demokritos” will host The ACG Innovation Hub @ Demokritos, which will provide space for start-ups, venture capitalists, research collaborations and other aspects relevant to innovation. In a wide-ranging memorandum of understanding between the two entities signed in July, NCSR “Demokritos” and ACG have agreed to collaborate in other areas including scientific research projects, student projects and researcher/faculty exchanges.
NCSR “Demokritos” president George Nounesis commented that “The Demokritos ecosystem provides space and encouragement for innovation at the start-up level and beyond, hosting companies that range from spin-offs to Tesla. We are very pleased to have The American College of Greece as a partner in this new venture that will expand Demokritos’ impact even further in this area.”
President David G. Horner of The American College of Greece noted that “The National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” and ACG have been neighbors in Aghia Paraskevi for many years. This agreement reflects not only our physical proximity but also the similarities in our institutional goals of promoting research and innovation and our commitment to advancing economic development in Greece.”
The ACG Innovation Hub @ Demokritos is expected to begin operations as early as spring of 2022, under the direction of ACG’s Research, Technology & Innovation Network.
