Bio of the Speaker
Dr. Luis Fleischman
Professor of Sociology at Palm Beach State College, Florida, USA
Luis Fleischman is a political sociologist and a sociologist of international relations. He is currently a professor of Sociology at Palm Beach State College and the founding co-chair of the Palm Beach Center for Democracy, a think-tank based in South Florida.
Previously he has worked for the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, Florida and Central New Jersey for more than two decades as Executive Director for community and political relations. In that capacity, he has worked extensively on issues related to the Middle East and national security, serving as a liaison between these organizations and members of Congress, foreign consuls, the media, and the local community at large.
Fleischman holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the New School for Social Research in New York City, an M.A degree from the New School, and a B.A in Political Science and Labor Studies from Tel Aviv University.
He is the author of the book The Middle East Riddle” A Study of the Middle East Process and Israeli-Arab Relations in Changing Times (New Academia 2021) and Latin America in the Post Chavez Era: A Threat to U.S Security (Potomac Books, 2013). He has written an extensive number of academic and journalistic articles on issues related to the Middle East, Democracy, Latin America and National Security.
Fleischman is also a frequent guest of TV and radio programs in Spanish on issues related to the Middle East and international affairs in outlets such as CNN Spanish, NTN24, Newsmax, MegaTV, NTN 24 and other networks across the United States and Latin America. His opinion pieces s have been published in the Chicago Tribune, Newsmax, Palm Beach Post, the Sun-Sentinel, El Nuevo Herald, Infobae (Argentina), El Correo (Peru), El Pais (Uruguay), El Observador (Uruguay), La Republica (Ecuador), El Universal and El Nacional (Venezuela).
Fleischman was also part of the tam of foreign policy advisors on Latin American affairs for the 2012 “Romney for President” campaign.
