The ACG Sustainability Director, Rania Assariotaki, Office of Sustainability – Public Affairs, has been selected as European Climate Pact Ambassador for 2025 for Greece!
The European Climate Pact is a collaborative initiative that brings together individuals with a shared common goal – to create a more sustainable Europe. Launched by the European Union in 2020, the Pact is part of the European Green Deal and supports the EU’s objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
“I am honored to serve as an EU Climate Pact Ambassador and to continue working toward a more sustainable future”, says Ms. Assariotaki. “This role is a reminder that anyone can make a difference. By coming together—communities, institutions, and individuals—we can drive meaningful change and create a better world for future generations.”
Ms. Assariotaki was chosen as one of this year’s 26 ambassadors from 130 applicants in Greece for her leadership in advancing sustainability in Higher Educational Institutions and beyond, mentoring international educational institutions, participating in national and international networks, speaking at conferences, and more.
Guided by values like Science, Responsibility, and Local Action and Impact, this diverse and dynamic volunteer network includes over 800 individuals and 50+ partner organizations working to combat climate change and adapt to its consequences. In 2024, the Pact hosted 305 events across the EU, engaging 24,000+ participants. They also developed six tools to support citizen engagement in climate action, held a roundtable with EU policymakers on climate policy, and much more.
As an EU Climate Pact Ambassador, Ms. Assariotaki will lead climate action initiatives, such as tree planting and car-free days, help scale innovative climate solutions, and collaborate with other ambassadors and EU Climate Pact partners. She will also participate in key events like the Annual Flagship Event in Brussels and local Community Talks and organize at least three concrete climate actions.
