The American College of Greece (ACG) held its much-anticipated conference, “Career Guidance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” on September 5, 2024, at the ACG Events Hall. The event attracted over 200 career advisors from around the globe, both in person and online, demonstrating a vibrant interest in the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in career counseling.
The conference featured a distinguished lineup of experts, including Sini Parampota and Dimitrios Sampsonidis. Parampota, an acclaimed career counselor and consultant, was recently honored with the 2024 International Practitioner of the Year award by the National Career Development Association (NCDA), which addressed the intersection of AI and career counseling ethics. Sampsonidis, a PhD candidate in Career Guidance, explored practical applications of AI tools in the field.
The day’s agenda offered a comprehensive overview of modern practices and tools, beginning with a session on using AI in career counseling by Sampsonidis. Following a coffee break, Parampota delved into career counseling ethics in the digital age. Attendees then discussed best practices for organizing career management centers, led by Dimitris Megremis, Director of ACG Career Services, and Marina Perantonaki, Senior Manager at ACG Career Services.
A standout feature of the conference was a professional LinkedIn photoshoot session, allowing participants to enhance their online presence. This was followed by a session on the essential role of LinkedIn in career counseling conducted by Perantonaki.
The conference concluded with a panel discussion featuring industry leaders such as Panagiotis Kontos, Senior Manager at Grant Thornton Greece, and Victoria Karkouli, Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding Specialist at Nestlé Hellas. The panelists discussed the skills currently in demand in the labor market, offering valuable insights for career advisors seeking to guide their clients effectively.
The successful event highlighted the growing importance of AI in career counseling and provided a platform for career advisors to expand their knowledge and network with leading experts and peers.
