About the event
Although the Eastern Roman Empire, better known as Byzantium, may be relatively neglected or even ignored in many western academic curricula—especially in comparison to its more illustrious predecessor—its legacy lives on and still influences many aspects of everyday life in the modern world. This lecture will explore the multi-faceted survival of Byzantine heritage today, and will assess its impact on various contemporary notions and practices. It will also focus on the significance and management of Byzantine monuments, both in Greece and abroad. Lively debate to follow!
