The ACG Sustainability Manager, Ms. Rania Assariotaki, was invited to speak at the 12th CSR Conference on July 5, 2019, in Cyprus, on “The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Addressing the SDGs” and the case of The American College of Greece.
The 12th CSR Conference, supported by CSR Cyprus, is the largest annual business gathering in the field in Cyprus, which aims to raise awareness among Cypriot organizations regarding local and global CSR and sustainable development practices. The conference theme this year was centered on the question of how can Cypriot organizations pave the way in achieving the seventeen (17) UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Other, related, integral questions revolved around how you can build mutual trust between the organization and its stakeholders and how to infuse a sustainability culture within an organization.
Conference speakers represented a variety of businesses, NGOs, and institutions from Cyprus, Greece, and other countries, such as Deloitte, Apivita, Playmobil, and ACG. In the context of the conference, the “CSR and Sustainability Best Practices” award ceremony took place under the auspices of the Cypriot Minister of Finance, Mr. Harris Georgiades. Attendees included professionals from the Cypriot business world as well as professionals and experts from other fields, such as Marketing, public authorities, etc.
Ms. Assariotaki thoroughly presented ACG’s sustainability efforts and how the College is systematically addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and most importantly Goal 4: Quality Education, through its academic programs, the operations, community engagement and social responsibility, planning and administration, and its synergies with related organizations and global networks, such as UN SDSN and UN Global Compact.
