Deree Athletics – Spring 2017 Trips Abroad

EUROZAGREB 2017 – DEREE WON FIRST PLACE IN MEN’S AND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL, AND THE TOURNAMENT’S FACULTY CUP!

Deree had a very successful participation in the EuroZagreb 2017 sports tournament held May 24-28 in Zagreb, Croatia by winning first place in Men’s and Women’s Basketball and fourth in Men’s Water Polo.

Our Men’s Basketball team cruised to the gold medal after winning Zapresic University of Applied Sciences 63-45 and Libertas International University 56-51 in the preliminary round, and the Zagreb School of Economics & Management 54-34 in the semi-final. In the Final our team played an excellent game and won Libertas International University 74-40.

Our Women’s team started the tournament with a 16-24 loss to Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture, won the second game against Zagreb Faculty of Economics & Business by forfeit (20-0), and in their third game had a spectacular performance resulting in winning 27-15 the favorite Zagreb Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology and the gold medal!

Men’s Water Polo finished in fourth place in a very competitive tournament with one win against Zagreb Faculty of Economics & Business (5-0), and two losses against Zagreb Faculty of Science (8-11) and Zagreb Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering (7-9).

Deree was also awarded the EuroZagreb 2017 Faculty Cup, as the tournament’s best delegation!

BEST 2017 BELGRADE SPORTS TOURNAMENT

Deree also participated in Best 2017 Belgrade Sports Tournament held May 17-21, with Men’s Soccer and Women’s Volleyball.

The Men’s Soccer team won 3rd place after losing the first game 0-2 to DIF, Serbia and winning the second 3-1 against GUST, Kuwait who eventually won the tournament. In the semi-final our team lost 0-3 to FON, Serbia and in the 3rd place game won Rekreativo, Serbia 3-0 by forfeit.

Our Women’s Volleyball team is in a rebuilding process after four extremely successful seasons, and lost their games against FON, Serbia (0-2), Faculty of Philology, Serbia (1-2), and Faculty of Economy, Serbia (0-2).
