Join us in wishing Claudia Carydis - Benopoulou (PIERCE '81, DEREE '84) every success in her new responsibilities as Vice President, Public Affairs and Executive Director, Alumni & Parent Relations. In her new role as Vice President of Public Affairs, Claudia will lead the College's general government relations as well as specific initiatives (e.g. degree recognition, campus development, student visa processes, academic internships, military deferral). She will continue in her current role with alumni, adding a new focus on parent relations for PIERCE and DEREE, in coordination with the College's Office of Development led by Vice President of Development, George Triantaris.

Τhe whole ACG community - faculty, staff and students - was involved in the numerous events that took place in the 1st Sustainability Week (April 23-28) organized by the ACG Center of Excellence for Sustainability. The focus was on water resources, energy and waste management and the issues were approached through lectures and exhibitions, as well as theatre games, a meditation session and an excursion to Lousios.

Inspired by the archaic "korai" of Greek antiquity and so appropriately named "Anatasis", the awards designed by sculptor and PIERCE alumna Athena Politopoulou - Kargsten are presented to alumni that have excelled in their field at the bi-annual ACG Alumni Awards Benefit Dinner. As of May 17, the original marble sculpture is part of ACG's Art Collection following the artist's kind donation. "Anatasis" was unveiled by President Horner and has found its permanent place at the main level of John S. Bailey Library.
The active ACG Alumni Group in New York seems to be organizing one event after another: In April they enjoyed the production of "Four Dogs and a Bone" starring the promising young actor and DEREE alumnus Taso Mikroulis (DEREE '05), and in May they gathered at Ethos Gallery restaurant for an informal dinner that allowed them to meet and connect with other alumni. The driving force behind these stimulating events is VAL Christina Economou (PIERCE '99, DEREE '02).
For the third year in a row ACG had the pleasure to welcome US students of Greek descent introducing them to the civilization of ancient Greece and to its contemporary lifestyle. In an effort to re-connect students with their heritage, the US-based National Hellenic Society has created a fully complimentary educational and cultural summer program working closely with DEREE to make it happen. This year the program ran from June 14 to June 25 with the participation of 25 US students and 10 Greek students who volunteered to join them making sure they enjoyed all activities of the program.
The members of ACG's Board of Trustees meet without fail once a year in Athens to discuss the Institution's strategy and goals. This year ACG welcomed the Board in June and the visit was an especially productive one."Harold O.Levy, a trustee of The American College of Greece, gave an interview to Kathimerini newspaper discussing global trends in Education and his views on the future of ACG."
Aiming at the highest quality education in liberal arts and sciences, The Global Liberal Arts Alliance is a partnership of 26 select universities and colleges from 14 countries. ACG is a proud member and between June 22 to 24 hosted the Alliance's meeting which was attended by 70 top educators from around the world.
DEREE knows that Graduation is a very special moment for graduates and their families and has always treated it as such. True to ACG's tradition, commencement was held on Saturday, June 30, under the stars at the Track & Field at the Aghia Paraskevi Campus. As an alum, you can serve a key role by referring potential students to DEREE.
"Μέλι Γάλα" (Meli Gala) is the new snack bar operating June and July at the ACG pool from Monday to Friday, noon to 10pm and weekends, noon to 7pm. It offers light snacks and drinks for a relaxing break to the members of the ACG Fitness Program and the swimming academies.
